Skylar's First Big Haircut

My little girl who has always refused a trim, much less a haircut, the same girl who use to hold her hair in a ball in protest as we entered any salon asked me if she could get her hair cut off to her chin. I'm not sure where this idea came from, perhaps she has just grown tired of brushing so much hair. I must admit I was surprised and almost wanted to talk her out of it, because I too have grown attached to her long blonde hair. I made her an appointment, and we were both happy with the results! My little girl is growing up!

Our First Hogs

Porky and Hamlet

After church we took a small family field trip to a pig farm to pick out two feeder pigs of our own. This was such a fun family experience! The pig farmers allowed Skylar and Maddox into the pen to chase and catch our pigs.

Once our pigs were caught the farmers gave the piglets their shots and castrated the poor things. We are looking forward to being pig farmers ourselves and raising our own bacon.

Calhouns Produce

We tricked the kids by telling them that we were going to spend our Saturday running errands and doing chores around the house, but instead we surprised them with a trip to Calhouns Produce, a pick your own strawberry farm.

Maddox's 9th Birthday

For Maddox's birthday we rented a large inflatable water slide. My dad and Mitch put together the kids' zipline, and we celebrated with friends and family.

Happy birthday Maddox!

Washington D.C.

My mom and I took a road trip with the kids to visit my sister and her family in Fredricksburg VA. Since she was only a short drive from DC we spent our Saturday sight seeing! I wish we had more time, there was so much to see and do. This trip really did come at a perfect time for our homeschool, as we are just wrapping up American history. This was such a special and fun trip spending time with my mom and my sister.

Road trip!

Jessica, Gage, and baby Ashlynne

Apparently its really hard to take a picture of 6 kids in front of the White House. We couldn't even get any of the babies to look at the camera, and Mason is missing a shoe.

A butterfly landed on her head in the butterfly pavilion!
